As you have probably noticed I have not published a blog in some time. There are numerous reasons for this. I encountered several significant bumps in the road that caused everything to come to a screeching halt. First, I encountered a couple of very negative reviews on Amazon. Secondly my Kirkus review was very weak. The response to my submission to Hollywood offered some advice on how the book needed some restructuring. Several close friends, after reading my book, stated: “You have an incredible book with a great storyline but the book is filled with grammatical and punctuation errors.
I am not sure how much the above events impacted the marketing of my book but I felt compelled to stop everything and reassess the situation. After a long period of introspection, I realized that my novel would never reach its full potential unless I addressed these concerns. My only course of action was to take a step back and address the problems identified. It is unfortunate that I invested such a significant amount of money with Editors – FirstEditing. The poor editing from Editors – FirstEditing no doubt had a devastating effect on my books success.
After a lengthy discussion with my literary coach I decided to give the book it’s just due. Major restructuring took place, anything that didn’t support the plot was removed, sequencing changes were made and a comprehensive edit was performed. At the conclusion of this six-month effort the original book was removed from all book sellers and the new version was resubmitted. At this point, extensive research was performed into how to successfully market a self-published book. The result of this effort resulted in a new comprehensive marketing strategy. The book has now moved into what I am referring to as phase two of the book’s life cycle. Stand by for the results of this new phase.
