Phase Two

Dale Arden Blog 0 0

As you have probably noticed I have not published a blog in some time. There are numerous reasons for this. I encountered several significant bumps in the road that caused everything to come to a screeching halt. First, I encountered a couple of very negative reviews on Amazon. Secondly my Kirkus review was very weak. The response to my submission to Hollywood offered some advice on how the book needed some restructuring. Several close friends, after reading my book,…..

Time To Refocus My Marketing Strategy

Dale Arden Blog 0 0

Time to refocus my marketing strategy. Book sales have slowed so it is time to take a closer look at my marketing strategy. First things first – Taking a closer look at the PR firm handling my traditional marketing campaign I learned that insufficient results were being achieved. After a period of renegotiation I cancelled my contract and engaged a stronger PR firm with a greater track record of success. I am now two months into a new five month…..

Dale Arden Blog, Self-Publishing 0 0

My book is starting to sell, now what? My last blog outlined a long list of tasks recommended for a successful book marketing program. I am pleased to report that I have accomplished almost all of the tasks listed. Although my traditional marketing campaign is still in its early stage the book is starting to sell and royalties are flowing into my PayPal account. My novel has been printed, now, how do I promote and sell this masterpiece?

Dale Arden Blog, Self-Publishing 0 2

Okay my novel has been printed. The pressing question that I faced was: How do I sell this masterpiece? I knew when I took the self-publishing path I would have to face this laborious task on my own.  Another journey in my path to become a successful author. Again I turned to the internet. I wanted to understand the depth and breadth of successful book marketing. I found an excellent article, Book Marketing 101 by Jane Friedman (https://janefriedman.com/book-marketing-101/ ) that…..

Self-publishing seemed to be the logical solution.

Dale Arden Blog 0 1

Self-publishing seemed to be the logical solution. I found many articles that explained Traditional Publishing versus Self-Publishing. Here is a good one. (http://www.scribendi.com/advice/traditional_versus_self_publishing.en.html ) This new information confirmed my decision to take the self-publishing path for my novel. So I launched into a project to identify a list of respectable self-publishing resources on the internet. I screened the self-publishing providers with some reasonable selection criteria and conducted several interviews and checked references. Finally I settled on Lulu.com. Lulu offered a…..

So I wrote a novel what now…

Dale Arden Blog, Self-Publishing 0 0

So I wrote a novel, boy was I proud of myself for hanging in there. My literary coach (www.GreenleafLiteraryServices.com) assured me the manuscript was ready for prime time. So with great expectations I spent some big bucks and had the book professionally edited (www.FirstEditing.com) .  Very smart decision. Although I thought the book was clean it came back with lots of red ink. Excited about getting my book published a little research revealed that authors do not typically go directly…..

The back story behind The Iguana Project

Dale Arden Blog, Self-Publishing 0 0

I always had a secret desire to write a novel. Then one day the opportunity presented itself. I was flying from Dallas Texas to Seattle Washington on a weekly basis. Four hours in the air going and four hours on the return flight. During the first couple of weeks, of my yearlong consulting assignment, I caught up on pressing work items then I watched a few movies. It didn’t take long before my work was all caught up and I had seen all…..
